After taking the photos we had to do the credit card drawings to make the photos more simple, more focus with value and the shapes, and less detail. For me this assignment was simple because my photos were already simple, no much detail and they were more about the value. The only think I want to be careful is the each shape in my picture had the right value.
All my book gift insert I wanted them to be something that you could have put as a illustration for the book. At the same time I want it them be to playful like “Arabian Nights” has different stuff like the fisher man stick making a diagonal line which it fall in the ocean, the genie lamp, Sinbad’s boat, the three sister, the apples, and the main image which is the couple is the start of all stories, like I want people to be curious and try to figure how the card is related to the image.

“The History of World Cinema”, I feel something so popular in our lives that I thought my card should bring the interest of people too so I try to do two popular character in the cinema who I believe they will never be forgotten. Also I had to check if that book talks about them.

“Marine Plants of the Caribbean” I wanted the card to feel like you could touch the them and I think they could be real ( I am not sure if I achieve that with just using the collage technique, maybe I could have change of paper.
Night and Other Stories by Nikolai Nikitin
“Night and Other Stories”, this book touch my heart with a few quotes, it had romance but for the world and the people in it, it was like a call for hope, things will get better in Russia. So I decide to put the flag and two quotes one about talking of Russia and the other about love.
This assignment was really easy. It was done in groups, we had five pieces of glasses, for different color papers and a knife the paper and do random figures. Taylor was excellent cutter so he was able to make a hand and from their we work or way up at to the last piece of class. What I really like about this piece is that it has a lot of energy which the class talk about it.
In this assignment we were supposed to hear a song and make a drawing that could only work with that song. This was the most problematic assignment I have ever had. I just had issues figuring out the difference of sounds. Trying to be peaceful with the piece, but at the same time include every sound. I was a little bit down because it was the assignment we were supposed to be ourselves but for me choicing the song was like a block between being myself and the assignment. I am not into music. I used charcoal, gesso, white soft pastel, mylar paper and at the end I finish using a paper that look old, yellow paper
Sketches
This assigment was done after doing the credit cards composition of Deibenkorn photos. I had to choose one credit card and then choose which were not negative space that I could draw on my mylar. Before drawing on it I also had to get 15 imagines of google relate to one work, mine was coffee. After getting everything I start tracing the images to my mylar. It was easy assignment but no too exciting after while.
Coffee
This was a really fun assignment, just because it was like a game. We had like a limited time and each group had to achieve the goal the teacher was asking. The first one I believe it was about just making something that you like, the second one, doing a basic shape (the triangle), third one wasliving a whole with the shape of one of our pieces and then adding it somewhere around the whole, and the last one is about about no leaving any wholes in the shape.
In this assignment I was just trying to found places and things that will reming to Diebenkorn work, which is really boxy and there are different shades of grays, lines floating from nowhere. Something that got me inspire was the stairs because there is perspective, line, also a desk from a different view was really intersting looking.
The one at the left side is Diebenkorn drawings and the one at the right, It is the one I made. In my class, we were trying to understand and Diebenkorn work, his details with the charcoal techniques, and try to get the proportions of the lines of the imagines as close as we could in my class.

The extra I select it is from the movie, “Life is Beautiful, the one riding the bicycle in the left side of your hand, when he is crossing the road. The outfit that he is wearing, it is not too flashy; it is like he almost blends with the floor. He is riding the bicycle in direction to where the main character is watching and hiding from the women. The bicycle extra is creating a lot of balance in the composition of this scene since is driving the eye to where the director wants you to look. It also creates a lot of organize movement in the movie.
I select this extra because when I stop the movie at 0:15:57/ 01:58:03, I thought it was a pretty composition. There were the two cars driving in opposite directing, the two main characters in opposite direction and then bicycle just brings everything together. By the two cars getting out of the image is like bicycle brings you back to what you are supposed to be watching which the two girls is coming forward. Those few seconds that the bicycles extra ride make a huge difference in the whole scene.
It was fun doing this assignment.
